The Pastor in charge of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pillar of Fire located at LA primary school area of Akure, the Ondo state capital was flogged by armed robbers who invaded the church service today.
Reports say the thugs arrived the church on motorcycles, destroying plastic chairs and electrical appliances in the church.
They also flogged some of the members who tried to run for safety.
Eyewitnesses say the policemen who came to calm the situation arrested some of the hoodlums but were attacked by the mob who consequently rescued the arrested thugs.
While trying to rescue the arrested thugs from policemen, an officer was also stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo said details of the incident was still sketchy.
